Samarkand
1 Samarkand
I have never been there but the colours in this series seem to evoke the spices and oils of the silk road. You can imagine the camel train across the desert bringing silks from the orient to trade under the clear, blue, far off skies.
20cm
Price £45.00
2 Samarkand
This shape is called, rather unkindly a “floppy bowl” or dropped hanky for obvious reasons, but looking into it is rather like gentle blue pool . The wavy rim is formed by heating it until it flies out with centrifugal force and then suddenly hanging it downward so that the sides are forced to fold gently.
24cm
Price £46.00
3 Samarkand
The coils around the neck are formed by coiling a yellow coloured glass around the neck and then heating it with a gas torch. This turns the colour gold and silver.
19cm
Price £36.00
5 Samarkand
Small round flask with a misty appearance. Just the thing for hiding a musty sweet liquor.
16cm
Price £32.00
